A poem I wrote beginning of 2022 expressing how since Ive fully invested in myself in music I have gain a small notoriety￼ to a point I may soon put my mom in a new home and give my little sister everything i never had and that she never have to feel like she shloud sacrifice her wants for something or someone else. Also how I still remain the same person people know and love even w/ music being my priority but the people around have changed throughout my journey. I then go on to shine the light on how music has encouraged me to be daring and confident in my work that I didnt have going into this.

Mr. AP Music Classroom #1

Amir Pickens (aka girlthatsamir) is an producer, artist and songwriter from Charlotte, NC. He draws inspirations from the many cultures he’s tailored from but admits that producer/artists like Pierre Bourne, Kanye West, and Childish Gambino to name a few that influenced his sound and production. 

Started his music journey in 2009 where he joined his Intermediate School Choir and continued chorus up until he graduated high school in 2017. He continued his music by applying what he learned into creating his own sound that eventually lead to his solo-produced instrumental album “The Catalog” in 2019. 

Since then he’s only continued to improve by writing and producing for other artists. He released his first produced single “Hero” with his friend and aspiring artist Miro. He then returns with his own single “Spotlight II”.
