How Long Have I Been Ugly?

This is a sketch that is compiled of audio taking on my phone at brighton. I have also used a singular synth noise alongside sections. 
the rest is all processed audio recordings of brighton using my mobile phone. 
When i visited brighton i was struck by the skeleton remains of the tragedy in 2007 where the pier unfortunately burnt down. I was overwhelmed by nostalgia from the seaside to the arcades. I felt sorrow, disorientation and hope. i wanted to capture these emotions in the song. There is processing of a guitar which was created from a busker who im yet to find. It was sung, produced by me Charlie Nelson. I hope this speaks to you the way it spoke to me.

Collapse And Fire

Short piece made from vintage toy instruments. I turned these toys into electronic instruments so I could produce with them and this is a little cute thing I made in the process. I used the 70s happy apple and miscellaneous piano thing. Both were found in a charity shop!

Happy Apple

I produced this track with a "memory time line" on mind. I created it to try and express my experience being neurodivergent and having PTSD. It also reflects my time at university and within the pandemic. It is chaotic, confusing and I'm not sure what it is, but here you go.
Partly inspired by artwork, writing collected during my time at university.
Emma clacy, Suzy chan and Sean McDermott are part of my inspirations for this song. Particularly the sun artwork (Emma), The fluid colourful artwork (Suzy) and the lyrics "if my horror were to be writ, you can breathe" (Sean). The rest is my own nonsense, artwork and collected leaflets. This song reflects nostalgia, NHS,London and as I said before PTSD and Neurodivergence. The reggae style was inspired by living in south east London and the ambulance and traffic sounds were inspired by recording the street I live on.

London Is A Lonely Place

A 90s, Sci-fi Synthpop explosion inspired by an alien drawing. It is about being diagnosed with autism at the age of 26 and coming to terms with and processing this. The track is also about not belonging to a neurotypical society but also being disabled and working class and feeling isolated particularly at amongst middle/upper class and abled bodied people at university.  Under the realm of gender, it also is about being AGender and not always feeling accepted in the LGBTQ community. This song is for anyone who feels like they don't belong. It is also about feeling far away from what society deems as acceptable and feeling society is rigid and robotic. It is about reliving and analysing your whole life with a new lens and being met with emotions and realisations I was not able to have. It is about the anger towards being mistreated and misunderstood. It ends with an instrumental which is an intentional protest to the right way of expressing ourselves through music. Verbal language does not come close to what tones, melodies and rhythms can express in my experience. Verbal language is very quickly ridiculed and closely speculated and when communication and emotions are not your strong point, this can be exhausting, confusing and sometimes counter productive. I find other things in life express emotions in a way that is not judged so harshly or misunderstood so easily.

Alien In Your Space

Shapes & colours to visualise tones, timbre, waveforms of the sound sources I could hear whilst sat in my Georgian flat. I sat near large single glazed windows that face one of the busiest roads in Lewisham. My neighbours below were playing music and it sounded very distorted through the floor, my cat was snoring besides me and my partner playing a video game on the other. The atmosphere was rich with different sounds and energy. The humming of the traffic, metallic sound of jingling metal on a lorry were a few examples of what I could hear. I have recreated the locations, character of most of the sound sources you see above in a similar time to when they were heard. I have mixed the sounds to sound similar to the original sounds except it is my electronic interpretation.

I found this Beautiful poem based off local folklore in Stalham charity shop.

Animalistic and warm noises from the Roland analogue synthesiser.I experimented with the Roland 100m and got very into it and felt it reflected my mood at the time. I wanted to make something vulnerable and pure and this is what I made.

Libby wrote and sung the lyrics to my production of synths, trumpets and irregular drums
Song was written with the idea of howling emotions and letting oneself be vulnerable. 
After a sad few months, this song expresses the vulnerability felt.

Feat Libby Nelson - Why Am I Always The Prey

A Soundscape/Archive composition compiled of multiple sound recordings of Happisburgh including old 1980s audio as well as more recent audio. 
The idea was to record and preserve as many sounds before the place is lost forever. quality varies due to limited resources and relying on old and unprofessional sound sources.  This place is significant to me and family and so it does encompass this.

I am a English Singer-song writer/producer originally from Peterborough currently based in south east London
I'm autistic, disabled and non binary and my music reflects this
I love electronica, synthesis, poetry and a lot of my music is a bit of a jumble between these things. 
I'm from the 90s and so my music has a 90s vybe to it.
I was brought up around 70s synth pop, American folk, 90s grunge/indie pop and I am so thankful that I was.
Family are from Sheffield and america and these cultural associations make themselves known here and there in my music.
I enjoy experimental music, and the process in creating it and so you will find a lot of experimental music on my page.
I love to collaborate with others and the experience of music making and connection.
I am currently studying at Goldsmiths University of London and have been for the past 3 years, this has been a interesting journey so far.
