01 The Hinnom - Changeling

The Hinnom are a loose nucleus of musicians from Eindhoven, the Netherlands, led by musician Chris Rovers (aka. Ghost) and singer / artist Anouk Bax.

The music is based on the early Post Punk / New Wave sound, mixed with anything from Jazz to World Music to Rock ‘n’ Roll. The goal is to offer the listener something more challenging than the clichés of popular western music, while maintaining the idea of the song and avoiding musical snobbery.

Anouk and Ghost had been working in a home-studio setting for years. The result was a huge bulk of material, but the sound quality was never to a standard good enough to actually release it. The mentioned material will find its way onto our upcoming releases.

To get a fresh perspective Ghost put a simple “rock band line-up” together, with Sander Rovers on guitar and Mike Rovers on drums. This line-up wrote, rehearsed and demo’d the material for the “Waterfront” project. The album was recorded at Rob Bours’ Studio 54 in Eindhoven, with additional musicians and singers making contributions in the studio.

Currently Anouk and Ghost are preparing their “Dog Days” project. Recording is scheduled for December 2015. A selection of this material will be released on the Hinnom’s upcoming “Dog Days” mini-album. Remaining material will form groundwork for their upcoming full length album, working title “Anti-Body”, due late 2016. Rob Bours will be involved again, along with a selection of session members.
