My submission for Hugo Moroux and Ben Levin's August song challenge. The challenge was to keep a diary for 7 days, write lyrics based on the diary and then write a song based on those lyrics. I ended up not using the lyrics, but in short the song is influenced by the concept of being held back by the past, and being unable to move forward as a result, while still trying to remain positive and hopeful about the future.

This is my submission for Hugo Moroux and Ben Levin's September song challenge. The challenge this month was to make a song using only 3 instruments. For mine, I chose guitar, synth, and vocals.

The Wheel

This month's song challenge, issued by Hugo Moroux and Ben Levin, was to make a song titled You are Now Logged In, with that title as the theme. My mind immediate went to the sound the original Playstation makes when you turned it on, so I used that for a bit of inspiration behind my song. For the lyrics, I just wrote some words that I felt fit the atmosphere.

Submission for Hugo Moroux and Ben Levin's November song challenge, to create a song using reversal as a theme or feature in the song. 
I reverse a bunch of melodies and samples until I came up with a chord progression, then made a song based off of that. It also has some reversed synth samples. Enjoy!

An Autumn Wizard

My submission for Hugo Moroux and Ben Levin's song challenge for the month of the December. The challenge was to make a song based on a Rose/Thorn/Bud concept. The rose being what I'm thankful for the last year, the thorn being what I regret or disliked about the last year, and the bud being what I'm looking forward to the following year. I struggled to come up with something this month, and just kind of went with the flow of whatever came out while writing and thinking about the rose/thorn/concept.

A Winter's Dream

My submission for Hugo Moroux and Ben Levin's January song challenge, and my first ever song made using Musescore 4. This month's challenge was to incorporate something made in Musescore. It was very fun and I learned a good bit in the process.

I essentially created 4 repetitions of the basic melody/chord structure using classical guitar, acoustic bass, tenor saxophone, and viola, chopped it up a bit and made it repeat more times, added effects, and threw a beat over it!

Rainy Afternoon

This month's song challenge issued by Hugo Moroux and Ben Levin was to make a song that incorporated an instrumental hook. I dug up an old song I had worked on previously years ago to use for this challenge, and recycled it!

Space Debris

My submission for Hugo Moroux and Ben Levin's monthly song challenge. This month we were tasked with making "mudpies." 
To make my mudpie, I took a 20 minute clip of me playing my out-of-tune upright piano, cut it up into 5 sections and layered them on top of each other. Then I took a recording of me screaming on my way to work, added that, and threw a bunch of distortion and delay all over it.

I decided to cover Spirit of the Stairwell by Circa Survive. Making this cover meant a lot to me as Circa Survive was one of the bands my brother got me into as a teen. He passed away in 2017, so this cover is dedicated to him
