Latch (Manic Focus Remix) - Disclosure

"Interruption" is an announcement to consumer culture and the Western worldview. 

From the beginning of the instrumental a laid back yet powerful atmosphere arises, carried by a thumping hip-hop beat, as rhymes enter, combining a satirical character with personal feelings and strong convictions about modern society. The production is a balance between presenting a message and allowing for the attitude of the soundscape to speak for itself. 

The lyrical subject matter arises from a deeply personal yet collective experience, that of being frustrated with capitalisms' destructive by-products, such as the constant flood of information that is forced upon us against our will, or the tyranny of choice we face when buying goods. As citizens, we are berated with media and advertisement encouraging us to buy "things" to reach satisfaction, in turn effecting our day-to-day experience and informing our consumerist behavior. The idea behind the title is to disrupt this status quo. In this way, the song can be seen as an advertisement for anti-advertisement. 

In the path of Technicolor Lenses' evolution, this song looks at a series of specific circumstances and tells a story that many people around the world are living, yet seldom are able to talk about. "Interruption" also marks the final release by Technicolor Lenses in 2013. As the band continues to release new music and perform live going forward, you will see a flow of content that is highly developed, focused, and intentional.

This is the age of consumption, excuse the interruption 
Time to remind you again to buy something 
Commerce of gumption, put a price of nothing! 
Create another landfill, we need to keep dumping 
Breaking store doors to buy the next lame video game 
Entertain the brain distract from pain 
When you need work, a dollar is your name 
On the way to the mall make sure you stay in your lane 
Culture of no shame, snookie's not to blame 
When force fed attention, people turn the same 
Celebrities subjected to abduction 
Vortexed in a suction product production 
In line at the grocery store about to pay 
I can't control the information that comes my way 
Looking at magazines, I think it's safe to say 
The news shouldn't include a celebrity's bad hair day!

Just A Gent - Limelight ft. R O Z E S (NGHTMRE Remix)

MalLabel Music is back with another groovin' stack of brass, class and all that ass shakin' goodness from Oakland's finest Swing-Hop connoisseur, My Pet Monster. 

Uplifting, fun and funky fresh vibes, jam packed into one EP with 7 tracks in all to dip the ladies to. Southern Hospitality has the tender loving care your dance floor needs to escape. Away to a time where the jazziest grooves laid waste to the cares of the day through double bass, big band mayhem. Dip, jive, swing and hop to joyous respite while My Pet Monster fills the place with unwitting open mouth smiles via 'Tennessee Tumbleweed' and the OrkidZ collaboration '18th & Vine'. 'Letters From Istanbul' is a break from the americas with some hoppin' arabic Mid-Tempo vibes. Meanwhile, the twang and blues treatment gets dropped all over the title track with some fat glitchy business. 

Joining in on the festivities and showing some of those old school family values with some hospitality of their own are some of the continents finest. Also from Oakland, h00zy drops the ethereal treatment on 'Southern Hospitality' with some stylishly unorthodox and beautiful trap styles. Also from the Deep City Culture trifecta, Orkidz makes another appearance to drop the big room beats on 'Letter From Istanbul' and layers some phat bounce over massive atmospherics. Finally, Canadian bounce specialist Defunk drops the twerk treatment on the title track like nobody else can with an 808 you've never seen so funky. Ladies and gentlemen, get your giggle juice and let's get this clam bake going!

Music is often like a time capsule. Listening to different records may remind us of specific place in time. It can often take you back to a particular moment in your life or paint a picture of events that you may not have actually experienced--yet feel as if you have. Our last three records all painted a picture of us at a certain time. Each of the three have allowed us to evolve into the band we are today by building on the past while looking ahead. Our latest EP, New Era, takes much of what we have done in the past with live instrumentation, sampling, and studio production and fuses the techniques together in a unified concept. 

Stylistically the genres we're working with are some that have always been a big part of what we love to play and hear. Throughout the record you have these type of things happening (studio-based production and live-instrumentation). It's not something that's necessarily groundbreaking, but it’s a nice balance of the two-elements that feels right for the band both in the studio and on stage. We've always been a band that tries to stay true to who we are while incorporating new styles and sounds. This is a New Era for us, and it's a snapshot of our current lives through music right now.
