Neurotransmission is the process through which brain cells (neurons) communicate using chemical signals. 
See if you can identify the 7 steps of neurotransmission, between a presynaptic neuron (sender)and a postsynaptic neuron (receiver).

1. Neurotransmitters are synthesized in presynaptic neuron
2. Neurotransmitters are packed into vesicles
3. Vesicles move to release site
4. Trigger releases neurotransmitters
5. Neurotransmitters travel across synaptic cleft (space between two neurons)
6. Neurotransmitters bind to receptor on postsynaptic neuron
7. Postsynaptic response is generated
