Simon Peter makes his Claremont 56 debut with a joyous slice of languid, organic Balearica entitled "Arc Of Lark". The young musician made his debut in February 2014 with the "Double Up EP" on Silhouette Music, which contained the shimmering nu-Balearic disco of “Espacio Temporal”. While that was laden with sun-kissed synthesizers, “Arc of Lark” is a much more organic affair. Blissful electric piano keys, hazy guitars and fluttering flutes cascade over an undulating live bassline and shuffling, bongo-laden beats. Warm and humid, it’s a slice of audible sunshine to brighten up the grim winter months.Long-time friends of the family 40 Thieves handle remix duties, turning Simon Peter’s picturesque original into an effects-laden chunk of slo-mo dub disco goodness. 40 Thieves member Layne Fox loved the track so much that he’s also contributed an additional remix that focues the action around a loose, languid, dub reggae influenced groove, spiralling electronics and Peter’s mesmerizing flute line. It’s a fitting conclusion to a magical label debut.

Electronic producer Max Cooper and ambient master Tim Hecker rework Ben Lukas Boysen on his new EP 'Golden Times 1' – out on Erased Tapes, June 30th 2017.

Championed by many including BBC Radio DJ Mary Anne Hobbs as the standout track from his most recent album 'Spells', Boysen’s 'Golden Times 1' forms the very heart of his new EP with the same name. Boysen entrusted none other than Max Cooper and Tim Hecker to meticulously shape and lure the title track plus second single 'Nocturne 4' into two entirely separate territories, yet never drifting too far away from their original soundscapes. With 'Evensong' the composer himself contributes a previously unreleased piece. It is yet another example that Boysen is still opening new and unexplored doors in a bid to challenge the existing realm of contemporary music he is very much a part of.

“Ben has been one of my most listened to artists of the past year or so. His last two albums in particular, have meant a lot to me, and provided me with focus when I needed it. So I was excited to have a chance to remix his work. I felt like I couldn't improve on his idea, but what I could do was take what was the core for me, and expand it. It was just a matter of running with the feeling I got from his original, sticking with his melodic forms and original instrumentation, and letting the growing intensity continue along it's established path to the only possible end point of total annihilation in chaos and distortion. My version is almost a continuation of his original if it was allowed to blossom into percussive format, rather than a traditional remix.” — Max Cooper

The golden EP cover art was created by Torsten Posselt at FELD as an extension from the initial album artwork he also created for 'Spells'.

"In the social production of their life, men enter into definite relations that are independent of their will, relations of production which correspond to a definite stage of development of their material productive forces.
The sum total of these relations of production constitutes the economic structure of society, the real basis on which rises a legal and political superstructure and to which correspond definite form of social consciousness.
The mode of production of material life conditions the social, political and intellectual life process in general.
It is not the consciousness of men that determines their being, but, on the contrary, their social being that determines their consciousness.
At a certain stage in their development the material productive forces of society come into conflict with the existing relations of production or – what is but a legal expression for the same thing – the property relations within which they have been at work hitherto.
From forms of development of the productive forces these relations turn into fetters. Then begins an epoch of social revolution.

In hour 2 we hand over to Moon Gangs ahead of the release of his debut album 'Earth Loop' on Village Green Recordings. A classically­trained pianist, William Young composed ‘Earth Loop’ “half and half in a classical sense", some played live on keyboards, with ideas notated traditionally, the other half created using analogue sequencers with random voltage sources. He had this to say about his mix;
"It’s a selection of things I keep finding myself going back to listen to, a mix of old and new.  My studio is where my hifi setup is, so it’s most of this is what I sit and listen to in the dark when I’ve finished working. There’s a lot of nostalgia in there, music from C64 and Amiga games I loved as a kid, film scores that I grew up with, and some TV shows I remember loving from childhood. Some of these tracks are ripped from old computers, cassettes or VHS tapes so a good chunk of it is hardly what you’d call high fidelity, but that’s something that’s never really bothered me."

Irmin Schmidt explains "Obviously the tapes weren't really lost, but were left in the cupboards of the studio archives for so long everybody just forgot about them. Everybody except Hildegard, who watches over Can and its work like the dragon over the gold of the Nibelungen and doesn't allow forgetting."
