THE TIPTONS SAXOPHONE QUARTET & DRUMS are an internationally renowned all-female saxophone quartet with drums, celebrating over 30 years as a band. Formed in 1988 and originally based in Seattle, WA, the members now live on in the Midwest, West and East coasts of the US, and Salzburg, Austria. The band comes together with solid instrumental and vocal talent to create some of the freshest sounds on the jazz/world/pop music scene today. The powerful saxophonists at the band’s core, all leaders of their own renowned projects, are founder and Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame member Amy Denio (alto sax, clarinet, voice), co-leader Jessica Lurie (soprano, alto, tenor sax, voice), Sue Orfield (tenor sax, voice), Tina Richerson (baritone saxophone, voice), and the virtuosic drummer Robert Kainar from Salzburg, Austria.
