Reflections presents the sixth instalment of their various artist EP series, ‘Reflections 06’, welcoming a new wave of talent to the label.

Following his re-work of Mark Barrott’s ‘Kyoto (京都)’ on Reflections last month, Tokyo-based Lycoriscoris returns to the label to open the EP with a pensive, stripped-back ambient mix of his 2021 Anjunadeep release, ‘Shizumu’.

Followed by a first-time collaboration between Swedish-based musician and visual artist, Amparo, and Montréal-based producer, Lost In City. Their emotive track, ‘Generative’, combines gentle strings with delicate piano lines.

Seoul-based producer, Moon Kyoo, returns after his contribution to Anjunadeep Explorations 19 and stellar 2022 remix of Qrion’s ‘It’s All Over’, to deliver the drone-influenced ’Detached’. Next up, producer Odeon combines elements of downtempo and lo-fi on his ethereal, guitar-led remix of mind&machines’s 2021 Anjunadeep release, ‘You’.

Rounding off the EP is the fourth and final Reflections debutant, Otto Taimela. Hailing from Finland, Otto has described his style of production as “music that sounds like childhood”. Featuring nostalgic field recordings layered beneath whimsical pads, his track, ‘The Prettiest Pearl’, certainly delivers on this tip.

As we wind down the release schedule for 2015, a few standout tracks from Shingo Nakamura & Max Flyant's "Only Silk 03" compilation (released earlier in the year) are finally seeing the light, in full (unmixed) form. On the heels of last week's "Tribute, Chapter II" release from the same compilation, we enthusiastically present LTN & Kokai feat. Arielle Maren's soulful "Just Believe," including a brand new remix by venerable Latvian duo Blood Groove & Kikis.

Teaming up on our imprint for the first time since the triumphant "The Underground Sound," LTN & Kokai once again proffer a deep, emotive musical touch on the Original Mix of "Just Believe." To infuse the soundscape with a heartfelt lead element, they've recruited rising American vocalist Arielle Maren, whose delicate, vulnerable, and exceedingly beautiful voice lends itself perfectly to the tender lyrical content and surrounding instrumentation.

Blood Groove & Kikis, as to be expected from the groove & melody maestros, offer a more uptempo and uplifting rendering. A "vintage" progressive house rhythm in the early going carries the listener into the first verse and, ultimately, the thrilling breakdown, where the lead chords are met by Arielle Maren's poignant refrain. The phenomenal cast of musicians involved on this release have delivered a highly memorable vocal house single; we're extremely honored to finally share it with our community.

Various styles of music really grab my attention; Classical, Electronic, Jazz… Grew up appreciating the rock and disco records my brothers left lying around. Took up the piano at an early age after hearing my Mom play. Began playing in church and also began playing  percussion in high school and went on to study music in University. Enjoyed the synth sounds prevalent in 80’s music and smile every time I think of the days of my childhood roller skating at the roller rink listening to disco and 80’s music.  In the 90’s I  discovered all the genres I love and simply referred to them all as Techno. The live vinyl mix on my local radio station on Friday kept me tuning in.  I couldn’t wait to try out new music I found and drive everywhere listening to it the rest of the week. There was something about that driving beat and especially when it was blended with classical sounding music that got me hooked. I eventually found out most of the music and the artists I kept coming back to the most were producing in a style called Trance.  Once I had a genre name to look for, I knew which section of the Virgin record  store in Grapevine Mills to walk towards first. I distinctly remember looking on the internet for the artists on the CD’s I bought and finding out the various artist aliases I liked were some of the same producers. Fast forward 15 years while enjoying a career in sales, I finally pulled out my old Korg keyboard from 1993 and bought some software and picked back up where I left off with my love of creating and enjoying music! A couple good friends let me play and mix on their CDJ’s during a birthday party and I was in love! I Hope you enjoy my tracks!
