Who's hungry?

As the son of British jazz pioneer Trevor Watts, a career in music really was the only choice for Sam Watts, AKA Maxxi Soundsystem. Over the last few years the Brighton based artist has risen up the ranks to become one of the most sought after performers on the international circuit, clocking up an impressive list of club and festival appearances. In tandem with his DJ career, his club-focused productions have been signed to a number of influential and highly regarded labels including Defected, Hypercolour, Moda Black, Maceo Plex’s Ellum and the mighty Nervous. 

On his first single on OM Records, Maxxi joins forces with the enigmatic and mysterious producer Thrilogy; a new Bristol based artist that places an emphasis on darker more mystical elements.  Together the two have created a rich, deep house track that speaks to the heart as well as the root.   Joining them on the journey via their own remixes taking it even deeper are No Regular Play and Bells and Whistles.

Black Sheep

Known as globally touring DJ and the man behind OFF Recordings for many years, 2016 sees a massive changes for Andre Crom. He embarked on a journey in many ways, physically (from Berlin to Barcelona), musically (from house to techno), and artistically, from being primarily a DJ, to becoming a full-fledged music producer.  

After years of global touring, mostly based on heading a wellknown label, and having coproduced a number of club hits, Crom realized that - few exceptions apart - the foundation of becoming and staying an internationally relevant electronic music artist, is to become a really accomplished producer with a trademark sound.  He soundtracks the summer and autumn of Catalunya's capital with two chord-heavy cuts between techno and house. 
"Estiu", is an uplifting piece of classic house music, evoking memories of dear 90ies-anthems, perfectly suited to accompany festivals and open airs all through the summer.  "Aestas" consists of similar ingredients, but takes them decidedly more towards techno, resulting in an intense and functional peaktime tool with a hypnotic edge.

The two tracks are another snapshot of the rapid development of Crom's solo production career, and spark the interest for what comes next.

James Curds’ ‘High Tower’ single gets the remix treatment. 
A team of legendary remixers line up to provide some hot reworks of ‘High Tower’. Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley is house music royalty, with hundreds of remix credits to his name, and he doesn’t disappoint here. He ups the melancholy undertones of the original with sweet electric piano, sorrowful strings and some moments of pure drama eked from the vocal climaxes. Osunlade’s Yoruba Soul mix is typically classy, stripping things back down to a soulful lilt with shimmering synth arps and tumbling bongos decking out a succinct, warm, beautiful arrangement. His Club Mix makes a beeline for tech-tinged, deep, soulful house with spacious synths and throbbing low end. Enduro Disco chunks things up with his tribal beats, undulating bass drops and atmospheric melodic sounds, drenching the track in a summery, beachy vibe with plenty of oomph supporting it.
