Soundway's at it again! This time with a brand new album from South London's Huw Bennet under his newly established Susso alias. The New Keira LP features music which is inspired by (and directly samples) the magnificent sounds of the Mandinka people, which he recorded during a recent trip to Gambia.

The tracks are composed entirely from original source material, field recordings and Huw’s talents as a multi-instrumentalist; performing tuned percussion from the region including the Mandinka Balafon, Kutiringding drum, as well as drawing on his skill as a professional upright / electric bassist. One of the tracks which best exemplifies his contemporary electronic sound, whilst still paying homage to a traditional Gambian aesthetic has to be Ansumana. It's definitely been a shop favourite ever since the good guys at Soundway sent it over and we can't wait to get our hands on this beautiful release when it arrives next month. Oluko Imo was a Trinidadian born multi-instrumentalist, founder of the legendary spiritual afro jazz groups Mansa Musa and the Black Truth Rhythm Band. He moved to New York City in the 80s and divided his time between teaching music there and touring Africa with Fela Kuti as both his manager and part of the band. 

Praise Jah is Imo’s crowning achievement. An elevated electronic mantra that perfectly fuses synthy soca disco with his spiritual afro-Trinidadian leanings. It’s a timeless piece of music that sounds as visionary today as it did when it emerged from the aether back in 1979.

Nanni and Francois Le Roy are both accomplished producers and DJs in their own right. Together as Ruff Stuff they make extremely well produced tracks that always have one thing in common – making dancefloors go crazy. After starting their own vinyl-only imprint (Ruff Stuff Music) with four fully sold out releases, we are excited to get four banging disco house heaters that work equally well as DJ tools and at a house party.

Implementing their knowledge gained as hard-core clubbers throughout the 90s, Nanny and Francois make tracks that they know will evoke strong reactions from the dance floor.
