Western Star is one of many great Aussie brands I was privileged to work on.  Like our client Kraft, the brand was a champion of good, Aussie, family values.
I still like this western jingle - concept & lyrics by me, music composed by Bruce Rowland.
When we (TH&M)were appointed (in about 1980) to promote the brand, the (famous) Western Star logo was up the other way, precariously balanced on its sharp point.
With my art Director partner, Paulo Leonard, we presented this new, improved logo design to the board of Directors.
The first word spoken by the Chairman on seeing the logo was totally astonishing:  'Ku Klux Klan' he staid.  It took quite some time of him trying to explain that all he would see when he looked at the star (now standing firmly on two points, was the image of the Ku Klux Klan.  Fortunately, nobody else shared his weird vision!
