Late night playing around with some software to test some doubles that was kind of okay even with having EQs to balance things out, had to end on a more minimal track cause it also crashed before I was able to set up the actual outro... lol

Sort of a hodgepodge of genres for 1 hour mix... Few clangers on some loud tracks so I do apologise, but overall happy with the vibe of the set. Turns out my Denon controller decided to stop showing the "track names" and instead "file names", so about 30 mins in I really got lost aha.

Haven't been able to DJ / Mix for a few months now while caught between moving house and an equivalent to sofa surfing, but found a moment when unable to sleep to set the decks up, hit record, and see how the story played out. Really enjoyed the set, even with its errors and coarseness. Tried to fix some rough patches which was a learning curve in and of itself but a good thing to practice as I've got a lot better at playing out / sticking with a mix even when I know I've messed up. Tried to keep the energy fairly high, while still letting a lot of tracks get to their second drop, think it worked well but every day is a school day. 

Hopefully once I can get a more permanent audio set up configured and calibrated for my new digs my EQing and levels will generally improve as I have quite a large volume disparity across my left and right ear when mixing with just headphones.

mix | 62 | Moving House Melancholy

Fun lil' trip away with friends to see the South West of the UK's sights, with a sprinkling of DJing (and too much donk). Few folks had a set they wanted to record so I figured I'd just see what I vibed with for an hour or so on my old USB (can't wait to finally have a PC set up again after 2 months or so). Started out with a fairly energetic intro so I wanted to keep that energy generally while having some lower energy / melodic singalong sections. 

Kind of limited with what I had available still but tried to mix up some stuff so it wasn't just the same ol' doubles, except for a few from my shorter liquid/melodic dancefloor set I recorded many months ago that had loads of issues, so kind of a refinement test, or just guilty pleasure - probably both.

Unknown mix found suspiciously on my computer after a 3 month period of separation from it. Nothing too original song wise at a first glance I guess due to not having any means of getting new music (no computer) at the time, but might redo / take parts of it to turn into a 60 min set in the future.

Did some mixing with friends over Christmas but sadly had a few recordings with some technical or audio quality issues that were discovered too late and all the tracklists were lost too. I've put together everything I can identify listening back, and tidied up the end of this recording file to salvage something that, while has mistakes, is listenable (I hope). Realistically I was never going to re-record it again, as it's something I struggle with - competing with a past version of me who might not be "feeling" the vibe in the same way if I were to redo it, so I don't bother. 

Not quite a mix to dance too but hopefully something a bit cinematic at times and a lens into how my mind listens to music and hears lots of samples and tracks simultaneously, even when only listening to one song. The internalised Hyperactive ADHD that jumps from country to neurofunk to 90s disco and finishes off with some relaxing pop punk.

Anyways, sorry about the abrupt ending but hope you enjoy.

mix | 34 | Recovered Winter Mix

Another winter mix that I wanted to portray how I experience and listen to music due to my neurodivergence. A lens into how a song will randomly spin off 2 - 3 different other songs or samples and make fun connections to tracks I'd have never considered before. I personally don't enjoy mixing too quickly and like playing songs almost fully out, and then working around their full components, but I tried to play with a bit more energy and concurrency to reflect the aforementioned brain-audio, so I hope it translates/plays well to other listeners - vocal clashes are very common in my mind as I always listen to music even when talking to people, and I appreciate it doesn't always translate to others as easily.

The Audio quality is a bit questionable at times due to some tech issues on a channel for the mixer we were using, we think, but hopefully it's not too much of an issue. And as always, apologies for any clangers, hard to beatmatch sometimes when you've got 2 songs playing in your brain and not due to the mixer, whoops.
