@teething-pains is a duo composed of vocalist @devecchibitch and producer @3t13 | Their work coagulates influences from synth-punk, new wave and glam-pop into rawly expressed ruminations on dreams, bodies, memory and fantasy. These are set against an ever-swelling backdrop of electronics that have the portentous, penumbral air of cataclysm, like out of a lone laptop emanated something alike colossal sounds trapped beneath ice.

Their Realist mix is made up of a live set and an ensuing B2B. The live segment distils what is so intoxicating about teething pains. With Carly uninmmured from the confines of a singly recorded song, her vocals shift into a scream’s boundlessness, drooping and engraving from each squall, each yelp and grunt accentuating the urgency of this world of felt memory and fantasy, each ad-lib amassing the drive that accelerates tp’s music toward an overwhelming that swathes. Etie’s live FX intensify the directions of Carly’s voice, drenching in echo some tracks’ most hymnal elements, or filtering it to eventual eruptions that consolidate this relationship of intimately-addressed lyricism and an antagonistic reappropriation of club sonics. Between the urgency of words and the extra-bodily potentialities of dance, between the geographies of remembered subject matter and the palpably violent potentiality of the now.

The DJ set that follows exemplified the all-devouring tastes that inform where teething pains emerge from. Going track for track, Mozart co-exists with DJ Pauly D, Aphex aside Nav. The destruction happening of taste’s delimited identity, of the thought’s impotence that cannot realize Allegri and Nav pair in ambience. Wherein can be found one secret of teething pains’ majesty… opera and a jewel’s fragility, the similitude of sublime feelings and a tragedy in being. The will to accept no confines musically, and to generate from the disestablishment of confines something anew. That religious splendour, materialist pathetics and the computer’s otiose alien soul interweave with each other not in the announcement of the new but in the rare silhouette of it that is the attempt.
