You cannot compare celebrating with your friend at his wedding, to the joy you feel at your own wedding celebration. 

Simchat Torah is not just about celebrating for the joy of the Torah scholars. It is really a holiday for you because the Torah belongs to you just the same. It is YOUR marriage to the holy Torah. 

Open up your heart for this weeks incredibly moving story about a young child named Henryk and the lesson he learned amidst a very difficult time.

This week we begin the Torah anew. ￼ Before we even delve into the depth of the teachings in this fundamental portion, the very first letter of the￼ Torah ￼ already contains a very powerful lesson. 

Why does the Torah surprisingly start with the letter Bet - The second letter in the alphabet? Shouldn’t start with the letter Alef?

Here lies a profound lesson: our connection with the Torah has two layers. On a more external level we connect through learning, understanding and knowledge￼￼￼￼￼￼￼￼. This is represented by the letter Bet. However on a deeper level we are intrinsically connected to the Torah beyond our understanding and comprehension. Our very being is rooted in the Torah! This is the letter Alef and every single Jew contains within themselves. 

This weeks story is about the connection between two famous Jews, One the mayor of a large city and the other is a popular journalist, ￼Who both publicly expressed this powerful idea and inspired so many others. ￼￼￼￼

When that young Maccabi found that small little jug of oil what do you think he was thinking?

What is the point of lighting the candle if there’s only enough for one day? Because he recognized that when you do your part with your little flame it might be end up lasting for 8 days plus 2000 years! 

Never under estimate the power of one little candle. Never underestimate the power of one soul. ￼￼

This weeks story is a powerful testament to the Rebbe’s love for every single Jew￼ and how the plight of one Jewish inmate in a South African prison teaches us￼￼ The significance of every single candle. ￼

Story of the week Chanukah

Less than a week before the promised day of freedom, the Jews are told to take a sheep, tie it to their bed and live with it for four days and the slaughter it. 

What’s the message? Why in the world? The Egyptians used to worship the sheep. By bringing the sheep into their home, the Jews were removing themselves from the paganism that was holding them back. 

What is your sheep that is stopping you from being free? Its now time to slaughter it by going against the tide and choosing to do what right, even if it’s against your comfort level and desires. 

This weeks story is about how a prominent Chassidic Rebbe and Congressman became “Lawbreakers” by breaking through the boundaries and doing whats right.

Wars are fought with guns and weapons, but they are won or lost in the mind and the heart. While these animals can take away our limbs and our bodies, they cannot take away our song. Theme: Hashem insisted that Moshe accept the mirros because they serve as a powerful reminder that everything we see is truly a reflection of something higher. It is our duty to find the supernatural and G-dliness embedded within nature.

Mirrow mirror on the wall!

Theme: The spies didnt want to go to the land because they were afraid to engage with the world. As a result Hashem sent them in the desert for 40 years, to bring light and G-dliness to every corner of that vast and barren desert.  In our journeys of life we are sent to different places to fulfill a mission and purpose in every place we find ourselves.

What Do You Choose to See?
