The duo Lauge & Baba Gnohm consists of Henrik Laugesen and Kalle Christensen, both born in 1985 in Denmark. They first met in 2008 in Christiania. After a successful day in the studio, they decided to put their previous solo projects on hold, and team up. Lauge & Baba Gnohm was formed in the late winter of 2008, and that wintery feeling which was present in their first tracks, still leave traces in their more recent soundscapes. Henrik and Kalle are heavily inspired by nature, especially the arctic parts of the world. Till now Lauge & Baba Gnohm have had many releases on various labels around the globe, as well as being part of a sync company dealing with soundtracks for movies and documentaries. The very first Lauge & Baba Gnohm collaboration release was The Perfect Stranger which was released on the German record label Blue Tunes Records. Along with releases on different compilations, Lauge & Baba Gnohm have released two EPs: Daybreak, on Soundmute, and Monolith, on Chillbase and the full length album "Langbortistan" on Altar Records.

Here's a wonderful label showcase and a reflection on this past year from a lovely independent Valencia-based imprint, Archives, curated and operated by Agustín Mena, aka Warmth. I’ve profiled plenty of its releases since its inception in 2015, and I must admit that Warmth’s Parallel (2018) has been on repeat more than others. If anything, it is only rivalled by Glow, which is his collaboration with Fionnlagh, recently released on December 8th, 2023 (you’ll hear a few tracks on this mix). The next installment in our guest mix series belongs to the Italian artist Andrea Morana, also known as Runaway Horses. We asked Andrea to compile his favorite ambient tracks, and he came up with this ultra-relaxed and minimalistic mix, in which you can definitely hear the roots and inspirations of his own project.

Numen *long mix* [collection of original music for The Psychedelic Muse]

Ladies and gentlemen, I have discovered an old hard drive with some of my old mixes, and I found them all in FLAC! Among these is an entire "liftmuziek" collection of volumes, which was the very first podcast I ran more than a decade ago (way before Headphone Commute was even born). These will be released, one at a time, on here, so watch this space for some amazing classic electronic music circa 2006! But before the unveiling, I figured I'd publish yet another beautiful selection that I dug out from the archive. This mix was made to celebrate two Native State albums from Rena Jones and Shen, which I put together to promote an event at an art gallery in Chicago. I hope you enjoy!

Emika Elena is a Berlin based techno DJ / producer from Tokyo and founder of the record label, Human Lessons.
Music has always been a huge part of her life, ever since she started playing piano in her family home at the age of 4, but it was the discovery of techno in her early teens that led her to become a DJ.
Having played one of the top venues such as Contact, VENT, eleven, UNIT, Origami, Air, Dommune and so on.
In 2016, she officially launched Human Lessons and released a solo EP titled ”Delicate Details”. 
One year later, she collaborated with Ryogo Yamamori, on a new EP ”Confusion” which was a limited edition vinyl release on her label. 
Gathering attention by being played by big name producers and radio programs such as BBC Radio1 and Deep Space Helsinki, she was significant success in first European tour in 2018. 
Her trademark sound is all about hypnotic darkness, influenced by soundtracks and cinematic scores.

Emika Elena 는 도쿄 태생의 베를린 기반의 테크노 DJ / 프로듀서이자 레이블 Human Lessons 의 창립자이다.
음악은 언제나 그녀가 4살때 피아노를 연주하기 시작했을 때부터 그녀의 삶의 가장 큰 한 부분이었다. 하지만 그녀는 십대 초반에 테크노를 접했고 이 경험은 그녀를 DJ 의 길로 이끌었다.
Contact, VENT, eleven, UNIT, Origami, Air, Dommune 등의 베뉴들에서 플레이 해온 그녀는, 2016년에 Human Lessons 를 런칭한 후 “ Delicate Details” EP 를 발매했다.
1년 후, 그녀는 Ryogo Yamamori 와 협업한 ”Confusion” EP 를 한정판 바이닐로 발매했다.
