Cleave The Aether (Out Now On Psychedelic Jelly Compilation)

With only the instructions, "to play for the trees outside the window of the gallery," I asked the flute player, Photi Giovanis, to make a recording of the song “Nature Boy,” written by Eden Ahbez and made famous by Nat King Cole. The musician and artist, Matteah Baim helped me to slow the recording to a speed that the trees might perceive. Accompanying the song is a field recording of a hike to the HOLLYWOOD sign in Los Angeles, California.

This recording was first presented September 7 - October 14, 2018 as part of the exhibition, Colter Jacobsen: Essays, at Callicoon Fine Arts. The song is now  available for the exhibition, hour fault, at Anglim Gilbert Gallery from September 3–28, 2019.
