Description: We ran the drum machine drums (sans high hat, which we added back later) through the Tonal Recall twice. Once we panned hard left (to get the left sounds) with quarter inch delay, and once we panned hard right with a dotted eighth delay. The result was fantastic, and because the delay was on a separate track, we later messed with just the delayed track.

Delayed Drums

Here we miked my 1955 Gibson es-125 electric guitar, and reprocessed it through the delay exactly the same as the Acoustic guitar. This might be my favorite track.

Here we ran the delayed drum track (see delayed drums to know what we did there) through the gravitas, while it was ramping on a square. We did it differently on the left and right speakers for some real magic.

John Mayer Signature Stratocaster into these pedal settings, into a Benson Amps Monarch, into an SM57. Magic. Simple.

Intro Strat

Here is the overdriven lead, we tracked it twice and panned it out a bit for that 80's vibe.

Here we used the Wombtone and an expression pedal to change the rate quickly, then we auto panned the track and added a small amount of reverb.

Phaser Harmonics

I used these settings and scratched the low E string with my thumb, then auto panned the recording.

Scratchy Strat

Pedal order was really important here, we went straight from a Moog Little Phatty into these, into the interface.

Synth Lead

Basically we only have a monophonic synth, so we ran it through these to make it sound fat, and added lots of delay so the notes blurred together when playing an arpeggio. Then we used a 100% wet reverb to make it really sound big. This is in the background and not in the video, because it would take too long to describe. The sound is faded in throughout the second half and when the Hold switch is pressed before the second half.

Synth Waves

WHALES. THERE ARE WHALES IN THIS PEDAL.

We used the blue knob... and it got whales, don't let that "in plug" fool you, there was no guitar plugged into this. We just used the Spectre to create a sound for the background, added a light reverb and autopan.

Admittedly we used the purple knob in the video by accident.
