The song, 'Let's Light A Candle' was written by Manu in response to the tragic world changing events of 9/11 that led to the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.  

Twenty plus years later, we rekindle our Candle For Peace with this Trio of Songs to join the voices of people all over the world calling for a peaceful resolution to conflict and an end to the violence of war being inflicted upon innocent men, women and children all over the world.

Today our heart goes out to all the families in Israel and in Gaza who are suffering the heart-breaking consequences of war. 

May it not be that the warmongers and profiteers have the final say in the conflict that threatens the future of, not only those in Israel and Palestine, but all of life on Planet Earth.

COMING UP FROM THE STREET

Greetings my friends. 

I felt so inspired by the wisdom and clarity spoken by Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, at the opening of Cop27. 

Her speech touched me deeply and in particular, her words resonated with the current track I’ve been working on with my bro’s called ‘Economic Weapons of Massive Destruction’

And then, as it sometimes goes, I had one of those lightbulb moments and decided to create a dub mixing her spoken word with our track.

I sent it to my dear friend Andy SquiffEye and he had a lightbulb moment all of his own and was inspired to create a video using the new dub and Mia Mottley’s speech.

So, here we are, just over a day on, presenting the ‘1.5 to STAY ALIVE’ - MIA MOTTLEY DUB on Day 4 of Cop27.

With gratitude and thanks to Mia Mottley and the Island Nation’s, I share this lightbulb moment with you.

For those living in the Caribbean and other Climate Vulnerable Nations around the World,
 “1.5 to Stay Alive” is not just a slogan. It is an essential requirement for their survival.

“We were the ones whose blood, sweat and tears financed the industrial revolution. Are we now to face double jeopardy by having to pay the cost as a result of those greenhouse gases from the industrial revolution? That is fundamentally unfair.”

Mia Mottley warns of a billion climate refugees around the world by the middle of the century if governments fail to tackle the climate crisis. 
Mottley captured the attention of world leaders at the climate summit last year. In a blistering address to an audience that included President Biden and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, she delivered a stirring speech that warned increasing temperatures constitute a “dreaded death sentence” for island nations from Antigua and Barbuda to Fiji and the Maldives and other Climate vulnerable Nation’s around the World.
