sing histories that bleed into the sulphurous air.

carrying the cries of forgotten chiefs across Te Aro.
The Beehive hums, a hive of shadow-bees
making bitter honey from the flowers of discontent,
while beneath Lambton Quay, old bones shift
in their concrete tombs, restless with remembering.

their obsidian teeth gnawing at ancestral clouds.
