cate guirguis’ debut single ‘ghost’ perfectly fills the void in your ‘sad girl late night drives’ playlist you never knew you had. As the lead single from the singer-songwriter’s debut EP for all I am, cate is proud to share ‘ghost’ as the first glimpse of what is yet to come, and after many live performances of the song, is happy to be able to share it with her audience. Stemming from an idea created on the shores of Belongil Beach, Byron Bay, the track expresses sentiments of emotional paralysis and bewilderment left from receiving mixed messages, contradictions, and hypocrisy. The autobiographical track is full of rich harmonies, reminiscent of those in Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR, with gentle piano and guitar accompaniment similar to that of Lauren Spencer Smith. As with the upcoming EP, ‘ghost’ was written and self-produced by cate and reflects her evolving musical journey following her studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
