In this Salt and Light interview (18 October 2016) John Clifford interviews Dr Peter Hammond about how the principles of the Reformation stand in stark contrast to the Marxist revolutionary ideologies behind the student riots which have caused chaos on campuses across the country.

Since 1517, 31 October has been celebrated as Reformation Day, marking the launch of the Protestant Reformation. It was on 31 October, 1517, that Dr. Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses on the church door in Wittenberg. His bold back-to-the-Bible challenge marked one of the most important turning points in world history. The energies that were released by the rediscovery of the Bible, in the common tongue, led to the most extraordinary spiritual Revival in history. The Reformation freed the Christians of Northern Europe from the decadence of Renaissance paganism and led to the greatest freedoms and scientific discoveries in history.

In Nigeria a presidential order has replace Christian education with Islamic studies in secondary schools. Over 400 million Christians live in the 67 countries of the world which severely restrict, or persecute, believers. 

This coming Sunday, 12 November, has been designated International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. Tonight, John and I will be giving first-hand and up-to-date reports on the state of religious persecution and what we can do positively, to mobilise the prayer and pressure needed to bring encouragement and relief to our brothers and sisters in Christ, whose Faith is under Fire. “And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.” 1 Corinthians 12:26-27
