I was looking to find how I could get around procrastination and I came across this term used by ancient Greeks. I thought it sounded like a place, and I always felt when I was procrastinating I went to somewhere I should not be at that time. And so the song developed from there.

This is for my wife. She suffers from night terrors, and it sometimes wakes me up. I don't ever want to wake her up so all I can do in this situation is hold her closer to me until she realises it's all just a dream.

Closer To Me

What you hear is the first take. I have tries to re-record this piece again, but it never comes out the same so I have left it warts n all. My son who was about 6 or 7 came into the studio and I asked him to listen to my new song. When I looked at him, he was so relaxed... almost asleep. Hence the name of the song.

At 58 years old, I am new to the music release business. I cannot get the music gene out of my system. They say that being a musician is not a choice - it's a must do. I started playing guitar aged 7, so music has always been a passion. I have always wanted to get my music to the public, and now that is possible. So, this song is about that passion and the kid that still exists within me. Hope you like it.

This song describes what I was going through mentally when I was recording my first album "Here We Sit". It was hard and littered with self doubt, foreboding, fear and nerves. But I pushed through and on several occasions had to make myself take One Deep Breath and carry on.

This was written during a period when I was mourning the death of my Father. It gave me a real sense of mortality and loneliness. No matter how hard I tried I could not shake that feeling. It was very hard to get motivated to do anything, hence the lyric Just Another Day.

Just Another Day

A cry for help for our planet. There is no doubt that we are having an effect on our planet’s behaviour. We were told that this was going to happen. But are we doing anything about it? Not enough in my opinion. I hope you enjoy the music. More importantly, I wish governments around the world would take this issue more seriously.

Before we got married, this was what my wife used to say to me when she did not want to come over to her house. Well, sometimes she used language a bit stronger than this, but I always understood that she just needed some time to herself. We all need this sometimes. I was writing this song when I met her and the tune just lent itself to this feeling in my opinion.

Noel is a singer/songwriter originally from Dublin and now living in Southampton UK. His sound is acoustic rock and is inspired by guitar bands such as Thin Lizzy, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Radiohead, Muse, Dream Theatre and many more. Other major influences are Bob Dylan, Lennon and McCartney and Neil Young. 

In 2020, he released a free album download of 3 acoustic tracks. In addition, 2 songs and one instrumental have been released as singles in advance of his first studio album titled “Here We Sit” which was independently released 20 February 2021, and is now available on all streaming platforms. It is a 10-track album of songs and instrumentals, which took the best part of 2 years to complete. All songs, lyrics, instruments, programming, mixing and mastering is by Noel.
