She joins forces with a group of dwarf artists to create art in the form of films, poetry and dance to challenge and address the rise of height-altering pharmaceuticals. Muriel and her husband Lee (newly returned from the Korean War) are beginning a new life in San Diego, which is upended by the arrival of Lee's charismatic younger brother, Julius. Lee is keen for the three of them to build a new life together, but Julius leaves for Las Vegas instead, where he meets Henry, a male co-worker. While the two men begin a secret romantic relationship, Muriel embarks on a secret life of her own. The film is ON SWIFT HORSES and we're joined by director Daniel Minahan.

80-year-old African American chaplain Betty Clark and white Jewish physician Jessica Zitter are on-staff at an Oakland, CA hospital's Palliative Care Unit-- professions that rarely intersect. THE CHAPLAIN AND THE DOCTOR documents their work as they endeavor to bring curiosity, connection and compassion to a broken medical culture-- and one that recognizes the diverse backgrounds of their patients. Jessica Zitter is also the film's director, and we sit down with both women ahead of its screening at the 68th San Francisco International Film Festival.

THE LEGEND OF OCHI centers on a teenage girl from the remote island of Carpathia who befriends a mysterious forest creature she encounters in the woods-- a species she has been raised to fear. Rebelling against the rules, she runs away from home and embarks on a quest to reunite the injured creature with its family. Writer/ director Isaiah Saxon talks about his feature debut: a tale of love, longing, and acceptance. 

From 2007:  Katharine Hepburn was, by many accounts, brilliant, fearless, independent, frustrating, insufferable and one of cinema's greatest actors. Author and cultural historian William J. Mann (HELLO GORGEOUS: BECOMING BARBRA STREISAND) creates a deep, different and candidly real perspective of the outspoken and elegant legend in KATE: THE WOMAN WHO WAS HEPBURN.

A teenager moves with her father to the quiet town of Kettle Springs, Missouri, hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times, and amidst boiling tensions, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Teen rebellion meets killer clown vengeance in CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD is an adaptation of the YA novel by Adam Cesare, who joins us along with director/co-screenwriter Eli Craig (TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL).

In JANE AUSTEN WRECKED MY LIFE, a hopelessly clumsy yet charming young woman who works in the legendary Shakespeare & Co. bookshop in Paris and desperately single, dreams of being a successful writer, and of experiencing love akin to a Jane Austen novel. We chat with writer/ director Laura Piani about her creative process, the feminist questions at the heart of the story, and why sometimes the best way to honor a literary icon is to challenge her. 

From 2018:  Inspired by movies, four young men attempted a heist that was at once audacious and unusual. AMERICAN ANIMALS is the equally-original cinematic hybrid of narrative and documentary that tells this wildly-true story.
