There's so many out of state license plates in California. All these people come to LA to pursue their dreams and only a few get to live them - get to achieve what they think they came for. They don't even get to stay long enough to have change to change their plates! This song is inspired from thinking about that. About what it means to go for your dreams, about the triumph in experience, the sadness in coming home. It's plays with perceptions of defeat and achievement. Its about the everchanging terms of possible and impossible.

It’s easy to get caught up in the noise. The ways that you’ll never win and the wrongs you’ve sustained, that you’ve imposed. The song is about letting go of the games you get caught up in, that you often feel you have to play to survive, to have joy, to achieve your dreams. The song is being in your body, being present and okay with yourself, your situation, your quirks, faults,….and also, whatever the hell is on the radio. You can’t hate everything all the time. You can’t be so hard on everything all the time - especially yourself. The song has joy to it in this way.

RADIO

The melody of this song came to me when I was amidst rush, hustle bustle, sitting on a plane, looking out the window, wishing it wouldn't take off. I finished the songs at home at the piano, questioning the idea of future happiness vs. living right now. And feeling a bit frustrated by that, by the choices I make, the ideas of accepted. It gets to a point of freedom, and I think tries to say that is achievable. In this way, it's kind of about breaking free.

With soft lo-fi-inspired vocals, woodsy upright piano and Rhodes tones, Tina creates a day-dreamy bedroom-pop sonic appeal that serves as a friendly host for lyrical themes of freedom, nostalgia, and finding self. She loves and is inspired by many eras and genres of music, the loudest influences being ‘70s pop and jazz. Over the past decade, Tina has honed a unique sound applying her classical training to popular cover tunes and performing in local solo, duo, and cover band gigs. She is currently focused on her role as keyboardist and backup vocalist with London-based neo-soul/R&B group Sunshine Makers, which she joined in 2022, as well as the development of her own compositions. Tina is currently recording her debut solo EP, which is planned for full release in 2025.
