THIS IS WHO I AM is a new digital theatre project featuring autobiographical monologues by artists with disabilities from Singapore and the UK. The project aims to raise awareness around unconscious bias, foster deeper understanding and shift perceptions around disability.

25 years ago at the age of 21, I staged my first big art event - '20,000 LEAGUES'. It happened just once, on the night of a full moon and lasted precisely 11 hours from 10pm to 9am. The occasion was New Year's Eve 1990/91 and over 2,000 people turned up to experience 'the most explosive art-happening party event in Melbourne's history' (Herald-Sun). I had conceived of it in the grandest tradition of baroque pageantry - the giant octopus suited mirror ball, the legend that was Simon Reptile (RIP), Barbara Quicksand, Australia’s number 1 DJ Tim Ritchie, the sprinkler system in the rig (dress to get wet), performance everywhere, and a simulated snow storm at 5am that transformed the venue into a spectacular blizzard. It was a totally immersive environment which started off as a slick 3-d art installation but when MARK WALTON took to the decks at 4am, the event turned into a down right dirty queer underwater fantasy. Recently I was going through my 'attic' and came across a cassette recording from Mark's set. I love it. Hope you do too!

Jeremy is a producer, writer/performer and HIV+ activist with ACT UP London.  For three decades he has championed underrepresented voices, and new forms of artistic and political expression. His work has been described as "an evocative theatrical wonderland"  (Guardian).  In 2002, he founded London Artists Projects, commissioning and producing shows with many celebrated artists winning awards including Evening Standard, Fringe First, h.Club, London Cabaret and BBC Audio Drama. In 2012, he won an h.Club Award and in recognition of his political theatre work was named in Time Out as among the 100 most influential people in UK culture.
