Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. The world's seminal drum & bass festival is nearly upon us and in celebration the twenty five year strong Ram Records label are about to drop yet another compilation EP to announce their 2018 stage takeover. The track listing is as weighty as the artists they'll be bringing along to Let it Roll this year; packed with seven new exclusives, from a range of producers both within the Ram roster as well as guests who've delivered a range of heaters throughout the imprint's back catalogue, it's sure to set the motions in place for the Let it Roll countdown.

Whether it's the indisputably emotive formula of Sound in Noise's offering 'The Prophet', or Audio's rework of his collaboration 'Creatures' with MC Nuklear and Prolix, there's a range of production styles which epitomise how diverse Ram has come to be over two decades. Freek's 'Human Being' channels the artist's tell-tale, bouncy signature whilst newcomer Kung crashes forward with the thumping bass peddles and rowdy drum sequences of 'Eunoia'. Legion & Logam make a welcome comeback with 'Mullholland Drive' alongside Hamilton's 'Hopelessly Addicted VIP', whilst Rene LaVice follows up his recent album 'Far From Perfect' with the crunching snares of 'Poke the Bear' with Lynx, and Subview's record 'Take Me Back' rolls through with its liquid underpinning and sudden descendent into crashing breaks.

It's an all-encompassing look at what Ram has to give this year at Let it Roll. As usual, it's looking to be another monumental year for the world's global gathering of drum & bass fans. Ram's taster of what's to come is just the beginning.

Sending out a searchlight for the dancers in the dark, certified SUNANDBASS ambassador @f-d returns for his latest EP to guide you back to familiar shores ready for our annual celebration in Sardinia. Rich and expressive music that works on the dancefloor can be hard to find but FD brings the goodness once again, with this diverse three-tracker.

“All Yours” hits the sweet spot straight away, with dusky vocals and tight beats. Deft guitar licks keep the funk fluid, wrapping around an essential groove, whilst crystal keys shimmer in the heat haze. An ace opener to any set, this track strikes a rare balance between rhythm and elegance.

Flipping the script with an ice-cold intro, “Second Villain” creeps up close and personal before dropping a murderous bassline on your chest. Produced alongside one of Switzerland’s most respected DJs, Ryck, the ‘Villain’ encompasses and embraces influences from Jungle and Drum & Bass alike.

Finalising the ninth release on SUNANDBASS Recordings is “Wah Wah Track”, which puts the music first to prove that the medium really is the message here. Melodic layers rise and fall like waves on this classy and uplifting piece of future soul music.

Always seen with a smile on his face; Inja the poet, lyricist, storyteller and unparalleled master of ceremonies presents his debut album on Hospital Records. His first drum & bass focussed long-player ‘Blank Pages’ flexes his lyrical style with heartfelt sentiment, roughneck flows and quick-fire wordsmith wizardry. All partnered with heavyweight productions from Pete Cannon, Nu:Tone, Logistics, Serum, Whiney and Anile.

Inja’s back with partner-in-crime Pete Cannon on ‘War Games’. A funky bassline lays the foundations for this fear-fighting tale. As the breaks roll out Inja’s militant and deep rhetoric puts this track on a new level, with signature percussive flair from the sought after hip-hop beatmaker.

Inja’s spoken-word piece for Amnesty International ‘She Just Wanna Dance’ was a viral online hit in 2017. It’s now been given a turbo-charged re-work by Med School young-gun Whiney. Inja’s poignant commentary on the prolific problem of harassment in club culture sits atop a grimey half-time stepper that switches up into a lethal upfront roller.

Inja proves he can ‘juk’ any riddim in ‘Samurai’. Serum’s steppy beat and woofing bassline balances Inja’s story of the samurai; slicing through the tune like the lyrical sensei he is.
