Traditional Turkish song in 5-beat, reinvented for piano. Asik Oldum Muhammede means “I fell in love with Muhammad,” evoking the Prophet, founder of Islam. The whirling solo is performed on a Turkish santûr. The Âșıklık tradition (art of troubadours) is perpetuated in Turkey by itinerant singer-poets, called âșık.
