“Promises” is a gentle, heartfelt piano piece dedicated to loved ones who are no longer with us. The contemplative yet hopeful melody is inspired by the promises made in their memory. The song features soft, intimate, felt piano tones creating an air of peaceful reflection.

The song is based on a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley, the husband of Mary Shelly, who wrote Frankenstein. The theme is the transience of power, a topic that is also very relevant today.  Accompanied by acoustic guitars and the sound of a mandolin, the song has a folky mood.

A reworking of the traditional folk song The Broom Squire's Bird Song.

Taken from Slow Galley's Drift's eclectic Broken Field System EP which also features an improvisation for film; an acoustic folktronica track; and a chanson-inspired piano piece.
