Turkish record label Oath prepare to release their next cosmic dispatch from Rome-based groove scientist SofaTalk. Our pick from the release, ‘Drum Circle’, plunges headfirst into percussive psychedelia, SofaTalk’s drum programming twisting and turning like a Möbius strip of South London-bred syncopation and Mediterranean heatwave. A kinetic lattice of space-dusted samples and bass arpeggios locks into orbit, while spectral vocal echoes ripple through the mix like ghosts of future-disco utopias. Following on from Roy INC x Darren Morris’s debut 2024 collaboration, ‘Credit Me’, the duo is back with their second release, ‘Rivers of Blood’.  Roy’s lyrics deal with the aggressor in a general context and comments upon the importance of standing steadfast against injustices, oppression and yearning for a positive solution. This begins with the ‘right word’, perhaps alluding to keeping discussion and negotiations going in the best interests of peace, against a dystopian backdrop not too dissimilar to the ongoing atrocities in our present day confrontations. 

Darren Morris and Jo Wallace flex their remixing muscles and add a touch of 60s soul/gospel soul to the soundtrack accompanying ROY INC's vocals. There's big brass, Hammond organ and handclaps....what more do you want?

Lest we forget the Brixton Riots, the Miners Strikes and the demonstrations against CLAUSE 28.

After last years crossover smasher ‘Italo Disco Banger’, which picked up love from DJ Harvey, Gerd Janson and Fatboy Slim, Red Rack’em has been back in the lab, cooking up this years contribution to his ever growing, genre hopping series of ‘Bangers’. 

He’s hit discotheque paydirt once more with the euphoric tropical disco house burner vibes of ‘Secret Banger’. The feedback has been insane with early support from a wide range of tastemakers including Make A Dance, Nikki Nair, Luke Una, Boris Dlugosch and Gallegos, it’s a crossover, summer magic jam, perfect for those Adriatic or Balearic mornings. 

Secret Banger is an instant classic. Perfectly pitched for festival sunshine and late night heads down parties. It’s a ‘moment’ track, combining the biggest vocal hook this side of Daft Punk, ecstasy pads, tropical boogie strut and the trademark Rack’em club shaking sub bass. Monday is ostensibly ‘the deeper B Side cut’ but it’s also a certy club wrecker. Samples are being mad flipped people.
