Yet somewhere, I felt it moving into somewhere strange, in this familiar world

Playing hide and seek
“Shadows”, so to speak
Writing, incomplete
People vanishing
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me that everything is just a lie (right?)

It’s just a doppelganger, it’s a lying stranger
Imitating stories little children make
It acts like I’m an idiot, and it won’t stop with it
Contaminating all their fairy tales

Spinning and spinning, her story goes
"A girl who thinks those stories are real"
Yet no one believes in me, they won’t listen to me
Tell me why is it so!

Ah, and with a whimsy brush, it’s painted yet again
The Grim Reaper’s game of tag

One day I heard a rumour going around about imposters at bay

The look alike, the real fake
In three days, this game will all be over
So I can’t believe anything they say

Fairy tales like this usually end in certain death at the hands of a god with bright red eyes

And so it begins
Just how will it end?
Who’s this story for?
What’s the killing for?

It is a doppelganger, it’s a lying stranger?
But conforms to things that little children know
All of the cynicism and the mean sarcasm
I don’t know which one is real anymore
