Using old data captured over a two hour period on the 10th December 1905 between 10pm and midnight, notes are gathered from a registration of wind speed, direction and pressure
on a chart, and then translated into a musical score.  These notes are then sequenced in midi and played on an analogue synthesiser.
Present wind capture through sonics of the same now defunct weather measurement instrument, via contact mics on the anemometer barrel and an ambient condenser mic in the weather cabin.
You hear the percussive sound of the rigging on top of the weather cabin reverberating into the anemometer. There is also ambient sound from inside the weather cabin, and environmental sound from the location.
Using the same meteorological data categories, the track also has a counterpoint melody, which is predictive wind data from a week after the live recording.
The notes represent alternate wind speed and gusts over a 24 hour period.

Resonant bell like sounds recorded at Pendle Reservoir during a walk over the hill to celebrate my birthday.  Using a Korg CM 300 clip on contact mic attached to the end of a row of metal railings and struck with a plastic drink bottle at the other end.  The railings span the width of a body of water and when stuck will reverberate in such a way that they become a resonant instrument.
The resonant bell like drones produced resemble and invoke a ritual space in which the improvised harsh feedback layered on top beckons to and holds a space for the release of grief and for that grief to be transmuted into ekstasi (ecstasy).
A meditative interaction between plastic, metal, a body of water and two bodies made mostly of water.

I was invited by 'Neuro Queering Humans' to compose this piece of music for their first online meeting and performance event.  It was played between performances and served as a sound track to tie the event together.  I love that I got to be a part of this one. x

Neuro Queering Humans

Work in progress piece.  Improvised arrangement, modular synths and sampler recorded live onto one track.
At around the 1.20 mark, the chord stabs drop out and you can hear me improvising textures and feeling around for melodic elements using audio grabbed from the bass part and stretched and smeared with a granular synth module.  Using the controls on the module to 'play' the audio buffer in real time as an instrument in its own right.  
This piece is deliberately sparse in composition in order to allow space for further imrov over it at a later date.
