Spring Forward 2024

A song from my early twenties.. venting frustrations about life, and the music industry.. talent never seemed to matter.. just had to have a look, I had def a weird one, ha!!( that’s a picture from when I was 17, for my best friends photography class.. I wigged it out as much as I could 🤩)

A song written during an 11 week furlough in 2020… was a way to describe what was upon us all. I had a hunch.. but nobody knew what was really happening .

My singing has been invariably described as, “ painful to listen to”, … “For a singer, he’s a pretty good drummer “, … “ He sings about as good as a fish rides a bicycle”,…” you’re not doing yourself any favors by trying to sing”,…it’s okay, it’s just punk rock.. if you agree, I surely don’t mind! I just like stringing sounds together, for a fun hobby. I play and sing all the parts on my own tunes, for better or worse!… if I can inspire anyone, I’m happy, otherwise, carry on through your sunshining day !🤩

This song was written by Steve on the acoustic guitar. He passed it along to Ken, who added a sturdy rhythm guitar, as well as his always solid, dynamic drums to it. In short order, Ken got the rest of the Eclectic Collective together on it, starting with Josh, who added his five string fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. Next up was JJ, who's keys, both organ and piano, can be heard livening the whole thing up. Then came Tez with his fiery ripping guitar fills. 

  We were all blown away, though, when Stephen added his equally ripping guitar fills as responses to Tez's parts. It really sounds like the two maestros are having a conversation. Not to be outdone, Chris sprinked some of his magical guitar to fill in the spaces, mostly at the beginning. 

  Of course, we needed a competent producer to pull the whole thing together for us, especially with all the different voices in the stew. That person was Stephen, who was able to wrangle all of us and make it sound coherent, like the expert producer he is. 

  We all really enjoy working on Steve's songs, although it's been a few months since we did one together.  It's been proven many times before that if,you start out with something good, you end up with some thing great. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

So... this is my first attempt at A.I. generated music. I tried this on www.udio.com. However, it is not completely created by me from scratch, but for this first time I've used it, I took a fragment of someone else's song, which stuck in my heart with its mood (I am an incurable romantic). I really regretted that it didn't have a beginning and an end, so... I generated my own. The track came out really awesome, so I've decided to share it with You. It really resonate with me... And now someone say that this A.I. generated music does not evoke emotions...

However, I still don't know what to do with this technology. There is no return to the state before it appeared, so we will have to live with it. But will I use it... I don't think so, at least not yet. For now I can't say its human influenced creation. Until they turn it into something like Crea or Leonardo, where a human influences every aspect of the work being created, or even gives A.I. directives on what it should look like, feeding it with your ideas, this is not the technology for me... Or maybe I don't know how to use it...

But time passes and sooner or later such technology will appear. Then we will be able to put aside our plugins and DAWs and create/generate whatever we dream of at the speed of thought  :)

     This song was written by Ken and a dearly departed friend and former bandmate named Chris Bennett about the latter's divorce that he was going through at the time when their band was also breaking up. Ken had a good demo of the two of them fleshing it out, which the Eclectic Collective used as a template for the song. 
    Josh was first to add his unique slide bass line to the song. Next up was Tez, who added the fiery solo you hear at the end, and solo spot! Stephen came in not too long after with the rhythm guitar, complete with the intricate fills you hear throughout. Around the same time, Mark added some really innovative, genre-bending horns and shakers to it. JJ added some sublime organ and piano! Ken then completed the song with his stellar vocals. 
  Of course, every great song needs a great producer, so Ken turned it over to Stephen for an objective mix, although Ken was still heavily involved in the process, too. This is the first time Ken has sung lead for an EC song, and we were all very impressed with his skills on this one. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.
