Trends and Boylan, two of grime’s most incendiary, uncompromising producers, are to re-lease one of the year’s underground club anthems, ‘Norman Bates’, as part of a new three-track EP with London grime hub, Oil Gang.

Trends, owner of grime imprint, Mean Streets, and new signee to Slimzee’s legendary re-booted label, Slimzos, has already enjoyed a fruitful 2016, releasing with Terror Danjah’s Hardrive imprint, as well as on Score5ive’s wax-only Reloadz label, while Boylan — for-merly one third of producer trio, Edgem, alongside JT The Goon and Dullah Beatz — re-leased a collaborative 10” alongside label regular Spooky on Oil Gang earlier this year.

Together, their bruising grime styles are amplified ten fold, with ‘Norman Bates’ — a track defined by super low-end, depth charger stabs and rasping, machine-like FX — quickly earning cult status in raves across Europe after first surfacing in early 2016. A favourite with Slimzee in particular, it’s been widely touted as one of the beats of the year, while scorching B-side cuts — Boylan’s ‘Shimmy’ and Trends’ ‘Octopus’ — add plenty of addi-tional sting to an already hyper-potent record.

Since his most recent solo appearance on Southpoint, Filthy Gears has gone on to become one of the most prominent producers in the grime scene, providing instrumental fire for some of the biggest and most influential MCs in the game.
