i consider chiptune a way of playing music, not really a genre. but there's something about this style of song that makes me think it's just ... chiptune genre. i was inspired by classic chiptune i'd randomly hear from like milkytracker back in like 2010.
(i was also inspired by anime, but that's usually a given)
