Reason's Thor has a Release Polyphony setting. This helps keep your tracks clean when you play a lot of notes in succession using a patch with a long release.

Here's the Release Poly in action. This is a basic patch with 8-note polyphony, and I'm playing a 7-note arpeggio. First time thru, Release Polyphony is 8, so all the notes ring on. Second time, Release Polyphony is 2, so three notes ring on (the latest one plus two more). Third time, RP is 1, so two notes ring on (the latest one plus one more). Fourth time, RP is 0, so only the latest note rings on.

Demonstration of Pattern Mutator, a Reason Player. This piece is 20 bars long, divided into four 4-bar sections. Each section is a mutation of the last four bars in the piece. Bars 1-4 use fairly elevated mutation levels of density, length and velocity, plus note swapping. Bars 5-8 and 9-12 use less mutation and no note swapping. Bars 13-end are the original pattern, which might be familiar.

Reason's Beatmap Player, a four-part drum pattern device, with LFO modulation of the density. First section is the original two-bar pattern repeated four times. Second section, modulation of all four drums, most noticeable in the snare, but every drum is changed. Third section, more serious modulation of the snare and rim shot.
