Akita Ondo is a Japanese rap.
In 1633, when Satake Yoshitaka, the feudal lord of the Edo period, requested a visit to the castle to see the popular "Teodori" (hand dance), an iki (stylish) retainer thought of an unusual dance to surprise the feudal lord. The dance was accompanied by flutes and drums, but the dancer's unconventional idea of having the dancers dance with only narrative and rhythmic, pitchless singing was successful in winning the favor of the feudal lord.
