“This week’s Junto project has always been one of my favourites – so I recorded the first third of what will eventually become a trio. I played it on my Tele through a simple, straightforward signal chain of Chase Bliss Mood (the main sound), fed through a Dark Star and a Polymoon to add space and variations in terms of timbre. No further editing in the DAW. I went for as sparse a track as I could, to provide as much space as possible for my potential collaborators. My hope is that you feel inspired by my “almost crumbling to pieces” vibe, and I look forward to hearing what you will be adding over the coming weeks for it to become a trio recording.”

My own additional process notes - 
On 3/15, I recorded about 9 minutes of prepared cuatro and picked some bits I liked for this piece. I used a few native Ableton Live effects, panned to right.

Ataxophobia, Right? by encym & Jimmy Lem (disquiet0367)

So many choices and such great pieces! My finally decided on alanblip's "leftydrone" which I thought would go well with a conversation that I recorded from a shortwave radio. I removed the static and duplicated a few key phrases, but otherwise left it as is, aside from a bit of reverb and a few contributions from Meng Qi's beguiling Wing Pinger.

I worked with a cool drone track created by @tt15tt (blaroed), and added a panned right sequence created in Ableton Live 11 using K Devices TATAT and Slate+Ash Choreographs.  No other effects added except what was in the S+A plugin. This is in C Minor/A-flat Major.

My addition is a pair of bass parts. It was a challenge to make the bass parts stand distinct without being able to shape the other two parts... but I did my best.

I also added a kick. It seemed needed to drive the percussion once there were so many other parts going on. I shamelessly admit that I got the idea from reading @DeDe's write up of their own treatment of the same pair of tracks.  (Didn't listen yet to keep myself ignorant by what is surely a fantastic bass track!)

I resisted the temptation to muck with the two original parts, but I did use the original full-stereo version of Just Percussion, and then I panned it and rightward somewhat left and right, not hard. You should still be able to keep the parts distinct as you listen. As always - if anyone wants stems, or a hard L-C-R mix, just ask.
