KEWL HARO by KEWL HARO

The self titled album Kewl Haro is the music project of Sean Meadows(June of 44, Lungfish), Jake Klotz(La Lus, Hallux) and Virgil Rhames(DJ Verge, La Lus). 

This album, which we called, ‘a dance hall punk record” while making it, is really a collection of tunes with soul and psychedelic incantations. It is fueled with sample and loop rhythms, minimalist tendencies and stacked beats. We see it as both primitive hip hop and a folk funk jam. 

It was recorded over two weeks in Jake’s studio in Brooklyn on an old 4 track tape recorder Meadows drove up from Tennessee. The session ended up as seven tapes of music and a notebook full of documentation which were then crafted into multiple mix tapes at Meadow’s Soul Stable studio. This self titled release is the first collection pulled from those mixtapes. It is the debut album Kewl Haro.

The album was mixed and engineered by Andrew Barker(Gold Sparkle Band) at his Phantom Ear studio and mastered by Sarah Register.
