This piece was created to commemorate the life of Sheila Baker, who painted the accompanying image. Sheila made the painting many years ago at the suggestion of her yoga teacher, TKV Desikachar, to evoke the Sanksrit word 'parampara', which refers to the passing down of teachings from teacher to student through the generations.

The 'silver lining' refers to the 'silver lining' of light I felt after Sheila's passing in July 2023., represented here by the interweaving of silver flute and piccolo. 

The piece illustrates the continuity of the yoga tradition (suggested by sruti box drone), as well as its potenital for moving and shifting creatively over time. It is a tribute to Sheila's dedication, vision  - and above all her own creativity.
