New mix from the stream-of-consciousness lyricist & aberrant noise maker from Bridgend, Wales. I was introduced to Elvin Brandhi through Sasha, who saw her perform w/ Ziúr, Sander Houtkruijer & Iceboy Violet in 2023. Very late to the game but I’ve been in awe of this artist ever since, especially drawn to her projects with Nadah El Shazly, Lord Spikeheart, and the twisted n grinded pop? duo, Yeah You , formed alongside her dad. Earlier this year, I was fortunate to witness Freya Edmondes (real name) perform at the Bluestone Church in Footscray and work closely on two other shows during her time in Melbourne: one for Make It Up Club (voice + electronics with Chloë Sobek) and then again at ABSORBED. You’ll hear segments borrowed from that Sunday evening at Miscellania here + a heap of other idiosyncratic compositions that reflect her wider and unyielding sound world. No hesitation at all in this music, it’s very special
