TONES OF STEEL

This is the first time I have recorded a duo acoustic instrumental with my old but solid and trustworthy steel string guitar. I bought it from a friend in the eighties. At that time I was really expanding my guitar skills into different musical iterations of the guitar, and specifically American Folk with its fast finger picking styles. Leo Kottke specifically. 

Although, back then, as a teenager, I already knew the instrument from the music of Al Dimeola. The steel string guitar wonderfully brigdes a gap between the nylon string classical or acoustic guitar and the electric guitar, having the longer sustain and ringing tone of the electric with its steel/nickel wound strings but the dynamics and woody sounding acoustic properties of the nylon.

The style here is my blend of fusion, blues , rock, classical and maybe some latin. As usual I center this around some pre-conceived chord progressions, melodies and allow improvisation to explore more tonalities and directions.
