Passover

A piece of music to recognise the Psalmist, or rather the group of composers that contributed to the book.  This piece recognises a variety of styles in a similar way.  An orchestral piece with flute and marimba leads.

When the world was left to itself, about three and a half thousand years ago, God raised up judges to lead the people in the direction of righteousness.  There were twelve in all.
This orchestral piece reflects the characteristics of those judges in twelve distinct phrases - following a baseline introduction.

Judges

A piece of music depicting the story of Jonah who would rather not witness for the Lord at Ninevah City.  Escaping on a boat, a storm blew up and Jonah was found to be the one on the wrong course.  Jonah was thrown into the sea whereby caught up by a whale - a large-mouthed fish. After realising his error and seeking forgiveness, was spewed out back onto land again to proceed to witness for the Lord. This is an orchestral piece setting the scene.

Job, a man who lost everything but kept his faith in God.  A woodwind quartet with backing strings, Job - represented by the flute - in discussion with his three friends - represented by the clarinet, oboe and bassoon.

Sometimes life seems like a long walk through the wilderness, sometimes by ourselves, sometimes entire nations. The Living God helps us get through those times.  A meditational piece of music with strings, marimba, flutes, kalimba and bass drum.

On The Way Through The Wilderness

To reach the promised land, the end of a time without, a sense of relief, joy and excitement to settle in a place set aside. For the Israelites, a nation who have known this twice in their history. This is an orchestral piece conveying the excitement of a new era.

Spring

Born in the UK, a musician since childhood playing flute and drums . . .  Presently stuck in a wooden house where sound resounds just like living in one giant Cajon drum.  Despite having taken formal graded lessons for the flute at The John Hampden Grammar School, taken part in the junior orchestra at High Wycombe Music Centre and being self-taught on the drums, music did not become a natural career path for Russell.  However, always being creative with drums on a Sunday morning at Church, Russell engaged writing music as a worthwhile pastime during the 2021 pandemic lockdown - and has continued since then.  Putting together an Acoustic Reach for Christian music.
