Excerpt from recording about 6pm in a deep ravine on Lago Maggiore in Italy.  Telinga SSM and Sony D50. Recorded July 11, 2013.  Some of the low frequency noise from traffic/boats on the nearby lake were filtered.

Afternoon at Pian D'Evan (capinera and frenguello)

This was recorded in Colmegna, Italy on July 27, 2014 at the birthday party of our daughter Molly and the 25 wedding anniversary of Telo and Berni.   It was a special occasion for many reasons.  It was the last time that Primo Piazza was able to attend any social gathering.   He died 2 months later and it was very special for our family that he was able to be here on this night.

Also, the person with the deep voice you hear in this recording, Franco Carrara, just died from coronavirus (CoVID-19) in Serina (Bergamo), Italy.

We have kept this recording for the family until now, but tonight are making it public in honor of Franco Carrara.

Twilight, Dawn, and Sunrise in the Olympic National Forest, on Rugged Ridge near Sitkum and Calawah Rivers.
Species include: Western Screech Owl, Varied Thursh, Pacific Wren, American Robin

Starting during Nautical Twilight on March 30, 2019, we're first greeted by distant Western Screech Owls.
The forest is soft. It rained last night and the moss-covered trees are still dripping in in the early light. The distant Calawah and Sitkum Rivers are awash in the background.
The First Varied Thrush arrives almost six minutes in and is quickly followed by awakening Pacific Wrens and American Robins. By the time Civic Twilight begins at 06:28 (18mins) we have a nice chorus of local life. Everyone is saying hello, good morning, how do you do?
Sunrise arrives at 06:59 (49mins), and almost immediately we're greeted by a Robin that swoops in to hang out and chatter for a while. Welcome, he says, to my home on the Olympic Peninsula.

Ruby-crowned Kinglets were singing at edges of West Grove Park, and oak grove at River Towers, Alexandria, VA.

Locked-down with nowhere to go and a distant thunderstorm rolls past my back garden. Made my day!  Would have been better if it was closer ...maybe next time... I think we're gonna be locked-down for a while.
