WHAT MAKE'S YOU CRY

At the advanced age of 4½ I was introduced to a girl of about the same age with whom I had an immediate rapport.   We spent an entire afternoon in childhood play.   I do not remember the girl's name, or even her face, but I have never forgotten the time we spent together.   The memory is at once beautiful, as such memories are, and, at the same time, sad, for that moment is gone and can never be repeated.   In “The Gardens of Abora” I try to express this feeling, under the belief that most humans possess similar bittersweet and half-forgotten memories of experiences long past.

	The metaphorical background to the song is inspired by S.T. Coleridge's remarkable unfinished poem “Kubla Khan”, first published more than 200 years ago.    The name “Abora” comes from the same poem, as do several of the images and lines in the lyrics.

	My very good friend, RJ (Bob) Balderstone, once told me that this song alone justified my entire life as a lyricist.   It is to Bob, now tragically deceased, that I dedicate “The Gardens of Abora”.

Im from Melbourne Australia, I have been playing guitar for many years now and played in two bands during the 80's & 90's (STOLEN CAR original) & (STORM cover),both bands never released any material. Since 2010 i have been writing songs and tunes and recording them in my music room (3rd Bedroom), i play Guitar, Bass, Keys, BFD2 Drums(programmed)and Vocals on all of my songs which i class as Demo's, I love all types of music but Hard Rock, Rock to Alternative appeals to me most.
