It's not always about demos, downloads and gear reviews, sometimes we just want to jam out. In this video, we decided to remix A Tribe Called Quest's classic, "1nce Again". Leroy dropped the vocal acapella into Ableton and made the beat using Push, Steve came in with the bass line which was recorded live and looped. Keys and synths layered over the top and some Scratching at the end for fun. Enjoy!

Defining characteristic of those early samplers and jungle music was their primitive time stretching algorithms and the sequenced pitch changes. With this Ableton Instrument rack we've attempted to capture that essence, by mapping a handful of Simpler modules carrying drum breaks across the MIDI note range -- but not so every note triggers a different drum break. Each sample is mapped to glide over a few MIDI notes, so you can experiment with pitching the samples without leaving the instrument or having to automate the pitch. That's why we couldn't use a Drum Rack for this one.

For our next Ableton Instrument giveaway, I'm sharing my lucky score at a recent vintage market in regional Victoria. Yup, in a stack of busted-up '90s hifi units, the distinctive colourful face plate of a Studio Electronics ATC-1 Tone Chameleon analogue synthesiser caught my eye. Fully functional, mint condition. I'm not gonna tell you what I paid for it, but I was a happy chap that day.
