W.I.S.O. - Three Little Words

We're stoked to announce the second release "Shank" from W.I.S.O. (The Waiheke International Soul Orchestra). The result of recent recording sessions with veteran NZ engineer Nick Abbott. It features the polyphonic vocal work and raw soul power of "guest only" vocalist Sophia Faalogo on backing and lead vocals. Sophia's stellar vocal work previously featured on The Solomon Cole Band album "Bruises" and recently featured prominently on the Aaron Carpenter & The Revelators debut album. 

In the past 12 months they have supported kiwi acts such as Yoko Zuna, Sorceress, Latin Aotearoa, P-Diggs and Sunshine Sound System. W.I.S.O have headlined Okere Falls Winter Festival, The Cavell Leitch Jazz and Blues Festival as part of The Blue Smoke series and started work on our debut album WISO-1081 with veteran NZ engineer Nick Abbott (Robert Plant, Rihanna, Golden Horse, The Datsuns).

They are performing and celebrating the release on Thurs DEC 28th at Leigh Sawmill with fellow Waiheke dance floor veterans and Latin Ska powerhouse Radio Rebelde before they head off on a national excursion over summer.
 
The band are releasing the recordings steadily, one month at a time, to create more of a "play-list" for listeners given the variety of the material on the album. From Electronic | Soul | Funk | Drum n Bass | Dub | Percussion Collective, the music spans a wide palette that reflects the international nationalities of its members that include Argentinian, Maori, British, American, Australian and more, all of whom call the lush bohemian setting of Waiheke Island ( post code 1081) home.

Recorded and tracked on the island at the local Eco Village, the band scouted the community hall with Nick Abbott because of its local reputation for amazing acoustics. The hall itself is made from adobe mud brick and with a high ceiling proved a rewarding sonic experience for the collective with Nick Abbott bringing his full arsenal of recording studio on site. 

W.I.S.O. look forward to unleashing a huge body of work from the sessions and to establish themselves as vital national touring act over the summer of 2018 and beyond.

Electro-Soul-Percussion collective W.I.S.O. are stoked to announce the release of "OUTOFTIME" official single.

The track is taken from a forthcoming E.P. entitled "Round 1" due in all digital formats in May and physical in June.

After two years of shows around NZ, founding members Lee Catlin & Solomon Cole decided the 9 piece band needed a musical exorcism and new sound that reflected the current state of play.

The result showcases a revamped collective with 4 brand new tracks (including the future release "INLOVEWITHMYENEMY" featuring guest vocalist Nikki Ngatai ) as well as a re-working of live show favorite 'THETHRILL"

Round 1’s artwork was created by established Waiheke Island artist Daisy Solomon and her gallery DaisylandNZ.

W.I.S.O. have shared the stage with NZ Acts like Yoko Zuna, Sorceress, Latin Aotearoa, P-Diggs and Sunshine Sound System, headlined nights at The Christchurch Jazz & Blues Festival for The Blue Note Series ,Okere Falls Strong Beer Fest and Sun Sets Festivals. 

They've released two prior singles completed by veteran NZ engineer Nick Abbott and are based on the lush bohemian setting of Waiheke Island.

Following on from their recent electro, house, soul single "OUTOFTIME" the Waiheke International Soul Orchestra (W.I.S.O.) release the sexy Prince inspired hip hop, funk, track THETHRILL. Taken from a forthcoming debut E.P. entitled Round 1, due out in August 2018 it once again features the sultry vocals of new vocalist Bianca Du Bont alongside founding members Solomon Cole and Dione Denize.
