This version is the exclusive version used in DJ Aphrodite live DJ sets and has never been released.

FOAD - Return To Villa Nova

When Dr John left the stage last week, I felt I had to pay homage to one of my early heroes. I took a couple of riffs from his track "Walk On Gilded Splinters", and just messed with them on my own, in the studio, on a Saturday night.
The rain, and some of the thunder, were recorded outside the studio, during the night / early morning.

I had a picnic  with a friend in the studio garden(socially distanced, naturally). It was the first time I'd really socially interacted with some one, in weeks and weeks, and it was such fun, that it inspired this tune.
As my rhythm section are still in lockdown, I had an Artificially Intelligent drummer and bassist , courtesy of Spunky Funk, but that will change in the coming weeks, as will a vid.

Music Inspired By A Picnic

The final instalment of the Innerground album sampler singles features two of the heavy hitters in the production stakes in recent times. The tried and tested combination of DJ Marky & Makoto has brought many a dancefloor to its knees, whilst new addition, T>I, has shown he has the mettle to dice with some of the biggest names in the game. 

DJ Marky & Makoto bring their unmistakable affinity for keys to “Bloody Mary”, with a beautiful arrangement that just oozes soul. Coupled with the heavy bassline it is set to make you move.

T>I has shown he is a trued DnB superstar in the making with some serious, deep offerings previously on the Innerground imprint. “2nd Chance” shows the softer slightly more bouncy side to his nature as it ebbs and flows between bass drops and shimmies along with the beat.

Like the old story goes, give enough monkeys enough typewriters and enough time, and they will produce Shakespeare. I'm hoping to get lucky with my music - enjoy!
