Hello, I was born in a vicar’s bed of mixed parentage (a mum and dad). Sent to boarding schools aged 9 (for crimes I had not committed). Surprised by a deep sense of calling to the priesthood aged 10 (I wanted to be a train driver). Age 18 I began my training at King’s College London (3 years of lots of theology), where, to remain sane, I started to play the guitar and sing in local prayer groups in London. Then spent a year working in St George’s Hospital (pastoral training, but also helping in theatre with operations and delivering babies,  etc. Then a year at St John’s College Nottingham (lots of pastoral training in a desperate part of Nottingham). Finally ordained in 1979 aged 23, working in Kidderminster .... where I met my wife! Then worked in parishes, (Woking, Stapleford Notts, Basingstoke and Cornwall). Over the past 40 years I have also served as the assistant Chaplain for the Royal Marsden Hospital, and 16 years as the Chaplain for the Treloar’s School and College for young people with complex disabilities, their families and the staff - over 1000 people on site. Then to Southwell Cathedral where I was Residentiary Canon for Education & Learning. Finally after four parishes in Hampshire, I retired to Lydney, the other side of the Rover Severn in Gloucestershire. Two grown up children and two grandchildren. Phew!
