Refuge Worldwide co-founder and programmer Richard Akingbehin joined me in celebrating 200 episodes of Passing Notes. Originally founded in 2015 as a fundraising platform, Refuge Worldwide launched in 2021 as an independent community station broadcasting 24/7 from their home in Neukolln. Although somewhat newly ‘On Air’ and providing an internationally loved artist to airway connection, Refuge remains, at its core, a community platform. Refuge prioritises amplifying the voices of marginalised artists, continues its community outreach efforts, connects people to current affairs and provides a space for community to share, grow and learn. There’s no doubt that Refuge Worldwide remains aligned with its foundational ethos: to foster unity in the community.

Beyond the Berlin-based broadcaster, Richard’s contributions to the world of music are multifaceted and far reaching. As a versatile DJ, Richard has made appearances spanning the breadth of the European club and festival scene (think Waking Life, Berghain, Melt and more). Richard also lovingly curates the Kynant record label which showcases the experimental sides of ambient, dub and techno. Notably, Richard kicked off his sublabel ‘Kyant Ex’ with a release from Passing Notes favourite, UK experimental band O Yuki Conjugate’s. When he’s not playing, programming or curating music, Richard connects listeners with artists through storytelling - His journalistic prowess, often demonstrated in the form of longform interviews and articles, often grace the pages and readers of heavyweight publications such as Resident Advisor.

Ich bedanke mich von ganzem Herzen bei all die wunderbaren Künstlern, Partnern, Freunden und den Fans und Followern vom We Are One Podcast. 
5 Jahre We Are One Podcast! Ohne euch wäre der Podcast niemals so gewachsen :-) danke für die Unterstützung.
Ich bin kein Freund von Zahlen oder Statistiken, deshalb lasse ich das auch aus. Es geht mir ganz allein um die Musik und um die Verbindung mit den tollen Menschen weltweit, mit denen ich zusammenarbeiten und sie kennen lernen durfte! Warum ich den Podcast  damals so genannt habe? Weil für mich die Musik eine Verbindung mit Menschen schafft, die es anders nicht gibt. 
Noch dazu möchte ich einfach etwas zurückgeben und Künstlern eine Plattform bieten, um ihre Musik zu präsentieren. Es gibt so viele klasse Musiker auf der Welt, die nicht so eine große Reichweite haben, aber so wunderbare Musik machen und das mit Herz und Seele. 

Mit der Episode 200 gibt es einen Mix von meinem alten Wegbegleiter und guten Freund Andre Köhler und mir. 
In der nächsten Zeit ist auch eine Compilation geplant (die We Are One Compilation vol 1) mit vielen schönen Tracks, darauf freue ich mich ganz besonders.

I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart all the wonderful artists, partners, friends and fans and followers of the We Are One Podcast. 5 years We Are One Podcast! 
Without you, the podcast would never have grown so much :-) Thanks for your support. 
I’m not a fan of numbers or statistics, so I leave that out too. It’s all about the music and the connection with the great people worldwide with whom I have had the opportunity to work and get to know! Why did I named the podcast like that in the past? Because for me, music creates a connection with people, that it wouldn’t exist in another way. In addition, I just want to give something back and offer artists a platform to present their music. There are so many great musicians in the world, who don’t have the possibility to reach so many people. But they make such wonderful music with heart and soul. 

The episode #200 comes with a mix of my old companion and good friend Andre Köhler and me.

Coming soon: I also planned a compilation (the We Are One Compilation vol 1) with many beautiful tracks.

 I'm particularly looking forward to that. Thank you, thank you! You are the best and always welcome.
